Perm makes a priority to be a bicycle friendly city.

Today the Perm City Department of Roads and Transportation is accepting the works on the bikeway along Lenina street from Komsomolskiy avenue to the Railroad station square. The new bikeway takes the left-hand side of the sidewalk and has white marking. The works on paint marking have just been completed. The next step is to relocate the billboards which are currently standing in the bikeway.

The bikeway was developed by the City Department of Roads and Transportation with the assistance of Panorama design company, with the cooperation of Perm bicycle community.

Perm Mayor Igor Shubin has made it a priority to turn Perm into a bicycle friendly city. The City Bikeway Project which is being developed now is based on a comprehensive and systematic approach to support and encourage a bicycle network throughout the Сity and within its districts. The Project provides for dedicated bicycle lanes, parking, service centers, and rental stores.

It is suggested that the Bikeway Project require no additional funding from the municipal budget provided that the current road construction plans already include dedicated bicycle lanes. There are two options for the bicycle lane location: sidewalk and traffic way.

In the future, the bicycle network will connect all the City districts, as well as the university, recreational, and business zones. The project documentation will be brought up for public discussion.
